How Hypnotherapy works

Trained as a Doctor, Aaron explains how hypnotherapy can help you on your journey to success.

“Hi, I’m doctor turned hypnotist Aaron Calvert & welcome to my hypnotherapy website.

By combining my medical background with my expertise in hypnosis I offer a practical approach to therapeutic change.

Training and qualifying from the University of Nottingham in 2015 (BMBS BMedSci) I studied specific modules in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Psychiatry & Clinical Hypnotherapy.

My unique hypnotherapy technique fuses traditional hypnosis methods with modern clinical approaches and I’ve had staggering results both in the clinic and on screen with the Channel 4 TV show ‘Hello Stranger.’ 

Based in the North West I offer 1-2-1 hypnotherapy sessions locally as we all further afield and via Skype. I genuinely believe that the power of the mind can help us all live a positive life.

Ever since Paul McKenna claimed to make you ‘think yourself thin’ there’s been interest in weight management hypnotherapy. 

The truth is, and as Aaron will explain during your session, that weight management hypnotherapy is possible & the results can be astounding when combined with other techniques that Aaron will share during your session. 

HOW HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS

Hypnosis as a tool for change is incredibly powerful and not just something used for comedic effect. That’s not what we do here. We take our clients needs seriously and treat everyone with the same professionalism you’d expect from a medical practitioner.
 


 

Hypnosis is a state of concentration where you become so focused on a set of ideas that those ideas become your reality.

 


 
In hypnotherapy sessions this heightened state of concentration is reached through progressive relaxation which shares similarities with yoga & meditation techniques.

Once in this relaxed state Aaron is able to give you suggestions to help change your mindset and behaviours at a subconscious level, using psychological and accelerated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques for long lasting and often dramatic effect.

With a medical background Aaron takes a holistic approach to clients’ needs and targets for change giving grounded and practical advice (such as looking at diet plans for weight management) to accompany the hypnotherapy techniques used in sessions.
 


 

This combination of techniques and evidence based practice has lead to increased success for Aaron’s clients.

1) Phone Call

A 10 minute phone call with Aaron is all it takes to break the ice and discover your needs. During this time you’ll chat through your hopes & goals for hypnotherapy and Aaron will tell you more about hypnosis and how hypnotherapy may be able to help you.

 
2) Consultation

During your 60-90 minute consultation, Aaron will take a thorough history from you to help plan your hypnotherapy sessions. It’s also an opportunity to chat through the hypnotherapy process and the techniques Aaron uses in more detail.

In just a couple of weeks your bespoke session plan has been created by Aaron. During this period you Aaron will give you a series of tasks and exercises to do ahead of your first hypnotherapy session.

 
3) The Hypnotherapy Session

The actual hypnotherapy session is approximately 60 – 90 minutes in length with time allowed both before and after to catch up on progress. During your first session Aaron will outline the plan for each session and following the hypnotherapy he will talk you through additional psychological conscious techniques to implement alongside hypnotherapy for improved success.

Aaron believes in a direct approach to change, so rather than using metaphors or regression to your past (used by most Hypnotherapists) Aaron instead reeducates your brain in real time. This researched and evidence based approach to hypnotherapy when combined with additional holistic and medical techniques can be used to treat a variety of conditions.

 
4) A Follow Up Call

Shortly after your session Aaron will call to check on your progress, gain feedback and learn about your ongoing needs. A level of aftercare is important and Aaron is available by email when needed following your session.
